Policy on Non-discrimination

Promotions Committee
All academic matters,including grades,grading policies and probationary standing while students are enrolled in the Basic Science Segment are within the purview of the Faculty of Medicine ’s Promotions Committee.This committee submits its recommendations to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.The Dean will consult with the committee and render a final decision.

Curriculum Committee
This committe ’s responsibility is to evaluate and assess ongoing programs for all four years.In addition,the committe assesses new trends for changes and/or additional programs based on current medical education standards that are compatible with our faculty and resources.

Admissions Committee
This committee evaluates and interviews candidates based on standards of eligibility factors as listed in the catalogue.Its suggestions are recommended to the Principal who will make and initiate the final decision as to a potential student ’s eligibility.

Faculty Advisors
A faculty advisor is assigned to each student on first enrollment.Students are encouraged to contact their advisors for counseling on academic or other school issues.

 

 
  Applications from the U.S./Canadian System of Education
 
 
1. A Bachelor ’s degree (from an American,Canadian,or other internationally
recognised college or university).
2. Recommended courses at college-level:Biology with lab;Inorganic Chemistry
with lab;Organic Chemistry with Mathematics (including calculus);Physics
with lab.Success in medical school is closely correlated to at least one
academic year of each of the above mentioned college-levels courses.
3. Suggested supplementary study:Physiology;Biochemistry;English &
Foreign languages;Computer science &Statistics,and Microbiology.
4. Medical College Admission Test (MCAT),NOT required.
 
 

Application from the British/European System of Education
A Bachelor ’s degree preferably with a science background.
A student with 3 A-levels,at least two of which should be in either,physics,chemistry
or biology.

Applications from other Systems of Education
Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies in countries having an
educational system different from those mentioned above will be evaluated on their
merits but will be expected to have completed a pre-medical curriculum comparable
to that described above.
All required documents,if originally in a foreign language,must be accompanied by a notarized English translation.These applications will go before the admissions committee on an individual basis.

Transfer Applicants:Admissions with Advanced Standing
Students enrolled or previously enrolled,in a limited number of approved medical schools may apply for admission with advanced standing.Such applicants must request the medical school they are attending to send an official transcript of their academic record to St.Martinus University.
It is also the applicant ’s responsibility to furnish official course descriptions and
course-by-course evaluations of the courses they have completed.It may be necessary
for this to be attested to by an approved international credentials evaluation agency.
Transcripts that are not in English must come with an official translation.

NOTE: Transfer applicants beyond the fourth semester of the basic sciences curriculum, who have taken and passed the USMLE Step 1 may apply for admission into the Clinical Medicine Program.
