LODZ

The city of Lodz is located in the central part of Poland. It is the second largest city of Poland with the population of well  over eight hundred thousand. What started as a small village experienced an unprecedented 1000 fold increase in its population during the 19th century. Growing from a small village, Lodz rapidly established itself as the largest textile manufacturing center in Central and Eastern Europe . During that period  Lodz was referred to as The Promised Land attracting many entrepreneurs,  tradesmen, bankers and workers flocking into the city from all corners of Europe. Poles, Jews, Germans and Russians, amongst others found their new home in Lodz.

Currently, Lodz has established itself as one of the leading centers of high education in Poland. Besides the Medical University there are 11 other high ranking academic institutions, e.g.: Technical University, University of Lodz, Lodz Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Music and Lodz Film and Drama School to name a few.

Lodz is known for its drama theatres, the Opera House, the Philharmonic Hall and museums. Lodz is also a host to many exhibitions and festivals throughout the year making it a vibrant and culturally rich city.

MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF LODZ

MUL is the biggest state medical university in Poland implementing the following basic tasks:

  • educating students in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and medicine-allied disciplines;
  • educating research staff and conducting research work;
  • conducting postgraduate training of highly qualified health care system staff;
  • participating in health care programs set by the social health care system

It was founded on January 1, 1950 by separating from the University of Lodz three faculties: Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical.

Medical StudentsThe Medical University of Lodz was inaugurated on October 1, 2002 as a merger of two medical schools: the Medical Academy of Lodz and the Military Medical Academy of Lodz by he Act of the Polish Parliament of July 27, 2002.

The teaching, research and clinical structure of the University comprises the following faculties:

  1. Faculty of Medicine;
  2. Faculty of Pharmacy;
  3. Faculty of Health Sciences;
  4. Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery;
  5. Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Postgraduate Training;
  6. Faculty of Military Medicine;

The University offers a chance of an automatic recognition of the Diploma of most of the faculties within all 25 countries of the European Union.

The University employs almost 1300 research and didactic staff, including over 300 independent researchers, i.e. 152 full professors, 133 assistant and associate professors as well as nearly 800 PhD academics.

High interest in studying at our University confirms the attractiveness of our educational programs.

Currently, over 8000 Polish students are getting their education within medical and medicine-related areas at various faculties.

Medical teaching in English was initiated in 2003/2004. Presently over 300 foreign students from countries such as the USA, Canada, Taiwan, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Nigeria have enrolled in medical and dental courses at the Division of Studies in the English Language.

They are studying:

  • 4 – year MD program,
  • 6 – year MD program,
  • 5 – year DMD prorgram
