Hungary is found in the heart of Europe. Its capital, Budapest is one of the most well-known touristic centres, it plays a significant role in the European Union as one of the administrative, industrial, commercial, cultural, educational and artistic centers in the Central-European region.
Hungary is very popular among international students. For those who like music, there are festivals and concerts of different kinds during the whole year, from classical music to alternative events, like the most well-known event in the summer, Sziget Festival.
Scientific life in Hungary is very intense, the researchers are well-known about their qualifications. Researchers from Hungary have already gained many results with international reputation (13 Nobel-prize winners). Hungarian scientists have invented such epoch-making patents like the ball point pen (biro), helicopter, safety matches, dynamo, Rubik-cube, the basics of PC or the treatment for puerperal fever.
Why International Students Choose Hungary
International students cherish the Hungarian higher education, the standard of studies is world-famous in many fields, and there are some truly unique majors. Lot of students miss the opportunity to be admitted to a college or university in their home country, and they can study here almost the same things in foreign languages, while the tuition fees and living expenses are considerably lower than in any other country in the EU. „International students like Hungary, they love to be here”-says Mathias, who decided to return after spending a semester as an Erasmus-student here. „My mates from Sweden usually come as they know that it is easier to get admitted as a medical student here and then they are almost shocked when they realize how good to be here anyway. It is not because of the living standards, but the social life that makes you feel good in Budapest. Graduates often stay here to look for work as well.”
The most popular fields are the medical and health sciences, almost 2/3rd of the international students in Hungary attend one of these majors. Economic studies are also popular, as well as the traditional technical universities with good reputation.
Studying Medicine
Medical studies in foreign languages have been launched 25 years ago. Hungarian medical degrees have worldwide prestige, graduates can start to practise int he European Union without taking special exams. The average tutiton fees in Hungarian medical universities amount to 1/3 of a same university int he USA.
Another reason is for Hungary, that here there are additional places maintained for international students, or universities are ready to launch seperate semesters for them, while the headcounts in most EU countries are limited, because the number of international applicants exceeds the university quotas by far. As the number of foreign students is significant in Hungary, universities launch also preparatory courses and semesters before the entrance exam.
The Value of your Degree
Hungary, located at the eastern border of the EU, thanks to its geographical position acts as a special brace between the east and the west. Its territory is crossed by three main vehicular roads and the Danube, it has seven bordering countries- good position for a logistical, commercial distributor. There is constant need for qualified graduates – Hungarian experts are very popular in the EU’s labour market.
