What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy aims to heal the whole person
- mind, body and spirit. Based on the body's
natural ability to heal itself with the
powers of nature, naturopathy is both a
science and a philosophy that has existed
for thousands of years.
Holistic Healing
- A Naturopathy practitioner seeks
to discover the cause of illness and treats
the whole person rather than the symptoms
alone. A naturopath will want to know about
a patient's diet, lifestyle, family background
and
environment, as well as the history of their
complaint or illness.
Working holistically with their clients,
naturopaths utilise a range of non-invasive
techniques to assist the healing process.
They may use herbal medicines, flower remedies,
counselling, nutrition, homoeopathy and
various different forms of bodywork such
as massage or reflexology.
Preventative Medicine
- A Naturopath has good listening
skills and carefully observes the client
in order to help the clients help themselves.
They work closely with the client to gain
a joint understanding as to why the illness
developed and how they can prevent it from
happening again.
Naturopathy places much emphasis on preventative
medicine and maintaining a healthy diet
and lifestyle in order to be healthy. A
Naturopath encourages the client to not
only maintain their physical health but
also to take care of their mental, emotional
and spiritual wellbeing.
Using their skills and knowledge, the Naturopath
empowers their clients by encouraging and
teaching them to make diet and lifestyle
changes and, ultimately, take responsibility
for their own health. The Naturopath also
teaches the client how to trust nature and
utilise its wisdom and healing power to
assist in their own healing.
Bachelor
Degree
The Bachelor of Naturopathy is a new benchmark
qualification in this field of study. Nature
Care College is Australia’s leading
College of Natural Medicine and is the largest
and only natural medicine institution in
NSW to offer degrees in natural medicine.
Nature Care’s entire Bachelor Degree
program is offered in house at the College
and does not require residentials and the
associated costs, at an affiliated University
campus.
The Bachelor Degree itself combines a highly
practical foundation with research skills
and methodologies from the beginning of
your studies. The research modules focus
on current trends and issues within natural
medicine. This allows for a fully integrated
program that gives graduates a much broader
range of skills relevant to their industry.
The Bachelor of Naturopathy enables students
to proceed more easily to a post graduate
award and is also well suited for those
who are interested in a teaching or research-focused
career. Bachelor awards are a requirement
in some work environments and carry international
recognition as an undergraduate qualification.
The Bachelor of Naturopathy can be completed
in 4 years of full time study and includes
400 hours of practical, clinic-based training.
Bachelor
Degrees vs. Advanced Diplomas
In addition to the practitioner training,
Degree students undertake subjects that
are focused on research and research methodologies,
current issues in natural medicine and more
advanced clinical concepts.
Graduates of a Bachelor Degree possess
a range of academic and vocational attributes
such as:
- an understanding of a systematic and
coherent body of knowledge and its underlying
principles and concepts
- communication and problem solving skills
- the ability to undertake research,
analyse information and apply knowledge
and techniques learnt within an academic
context
- skills for self-directed and lifelong
learning
Professional Associations
Once a professional training program is
completed, students are eligible for membership
into the relevant professional associations.
As well as meeting the high educational
standards set by the AQF, our programs also
meet the stringent industry requirements
and professional standards set by the associations.
Gaining Qualifications
In Australia
In Australia, the Australian Qualifications
Framework (AQF) is a quality-assured system
of educational recognition that links together
qualifications and supports national standards
in education and training. Registered Training
Organisations such as Nature Care College,
are accredited to provide training and issue
qualifications according to the requirements
of the AQF.
Nature Care College is a recognised Higher
Education provider. All our Degree qualifications
have been through a rigorous accreditation
process via the Higher Education Directorate
in accordance with both State and Federal

alongside all other University Degrees,
as well as those offered by other accredited
private providers.
Postgraduate Options
Due to the high educational standards of
our Bachelor programs, Nature Care College
has been approached by several prominent
Universities to formalise postgraduate options
including Honours, Masters and PhD pathways
for our graduates. We are not limited to
just one university who recognises our qualifications
and see this as a great advantage for our
